Day 21-22 -The Cabot Trail

The Cabot Trail

After we got off the ferry from Newfoundland, we headed for the Cabot Trail. It took us a little while to get there, but it was worth it. The scenery was beautiful, and there was a lot of lookouts to stop at.
Along the way we would stop at various lookouts and pretty spots, taking photos and enjoying the magnificent views each lookout had to offer.
The place we stayed at was called the Markland. It was a nice place, on a huge property. There was a pool and a wood swing, a beach, and lots of cabins for people to stay in. Our cabin was really nice, the perfect size for the five of us to stay for a night.
We hung out at the cabin for a bit, while people had naps and showered. Then we went to the pool, where I was forced to get it, except I didn't anyway because I didn't want to. After that we went back to the cabin. We got changed into clean clothes (since we slept in our clothes on the ferry and didn't change them) and went on the search for dinner.
Eventually we settled on a restaurant called the *. The restaurant was right by the water and had really good food, at a decent price. I got a nice cup of tea and a snow crab wrap with fries and coleslaw for dinner, and it wad amazing. Afterwards, we walked down the road a short ways and got ice cream from a lighthouse. It was really good ice cream, I had Orange Pineapple and it was sooooo refreshing.
After our ice cream, we returned to the Markland. There, we got ready for bed, and decided on sleeping arrangements for me, Esme and Gracie. We decided Gracie would get the bedroom all to herself, and me and Esme would sleep on the pullout couch. It was really hot that day, thankfully there was enough fans for all of us.
The next morning we showered, got dressed, and went down for breakfast. It was good, and there was a selection of teas, so I was happy. Afterwards we went outside and took turns on the swing for a couple minutes, until Mom and Das came outside and we had to go clean out the car.
After we cleaned out the car Mom went and did some laundry. Me, Esme and Gracie went and played on the swing again for a bit. When the laundry was in the dryer we went down to the beach. There, we wrote our names in the sand and decorated it with bits of things we found. I found a lobster tail, Esme and Gracie found lots of crabs. We waded in the ocean for a bit and got soaked, too. We were there for about an hour before returning to the car, getting our dry laundry and leaving.
We continued through the Cabot Trail, stopping every couple minutes at lookouts and such. At first it was annoying, I could hardly even squeeze one song in when we weren't stopping. Afterwards it was fun to get out. At one place we stopped we built little inukshuks with rocks.
As it turns out most of the places to stop were more up north of the Cabot Trail, so eventually it was just solid driving, stopping every now and then for the bathroom and such. Before we knew it, we got to Baddeck, and got settled at the SilverDart. Since it was Mom and Dad's anniversary, we went out for dinner at a place called the Bell Buoy.
The Cabot Trail was probably one of the prettiest places we went to throughout the trip. The scenery was beautiful, the lookouts had amazing views. At one point we even saw and heard a loon!! It was brilliant, and we all really enjoyed it.
